Subir Ghosh from Kolkata writes to Kolahal Travel Guide (August 25, 2013):

In September 2012 I visited Mandarmani with my wife and another couple. We went there on Friday morning and left on Sunday morning. The resort is just on the beach which was very exciting. Cottages are all without A.C. and roofs are made of dry straws on the outer side which gives a nice look. Rooms are big enough for two persons with clean toilets. People are good enough and helping.

Positive Points:
  1. Nice eco friendly decor
  2. Good value for money
  3. Just on the beach
  4. Good service
Negative Points:
  1. No luxury
  2. Dining hall is not so developed.
  3. Food menu is limited.
  4. No bar
  5. No A/C
I had a very good experience with Kolahal. A very helpful customer care executive guided me for reservation in Eco Villa, Mandarmani, and gave his best effort to find a good place in very short notice. I would love to call them in future.

Pradeep Kumar Hui from Kolkata writes to Kolahal Travel Guide (November 10, 2012):

At Eco Villa, food, service and behaviour of resort staff members were very good. The rooms of Eco Villa which resemble a hut are quite spacious and are well ventilated. My teenage daughter was very happy to see toads, varieties of butterflies, red crabs inside the resort campus itself. My wife was very happy to view the sea from the balcony since all the cottages are sea facing. We enjoyed speed boat and banana boat riding. As far as Eco Villa is concerned they need to advertize more and put up more display boards so that one can easily reach there.

We liked our stay at Eco Villa and wish to visit again at the earliest.

Shubhabrata Das from Bangalore writes to Kolahal Travel Guide (November 7, 2012):

Booking through Kolahal was peaceful and pleasant experience as the correspondence was prompt and professional.

2 very minor suggestions/issues:
  1. Had requested for 2 specific rooms based on Internet info – was kind of promised, although to be fair, it also came with Kolahal disclaimer that it cannot guarantee that. Indeed those 2 rooms would have been better but was not given to us.
  2. Would have liked to receive direction for Eco Villa from Kolahal, by default. Did not specially ask for it thinking it is a small place. Indeed the place is small, but it was somewhat difficult to locate given
    a) the signboard in front was difficult to read – we had first taken the (quite bad / adventurous) village road which apparently did not have access to the hotel which was only through beach. So we made 2-3 rounds …
    b) what made it worse was that there was no sign for Eco Villa on the road leading to Mandarmani and around while every other major hotel seemed to have plenty of them. (But the hotel staff came out to help us locate.)
Having said that Eco Villa had excellent facility and arrangement --- the staff was very cordial and helpful. On the day of the arrival they called us to find out if we would have lunch there.

Overall wonderful experience. Would love to go back there and stay longer.

Radha from Kolkata writes to Kolahal Travel Guide (March 26, 2012):

We visited Mandarmoni a year back. We had seen the pictures on Kolahol.com and the review and decided that Eco Villa would be the best for us. The cottages are beautiful, nicely furnished, room service by calling up the manager from our cell phones, good food etc. I was impressed that I could use the kitchen and the cook's service to make some food for my two-year old.

But after spending the night we concluded that Eco Villa does have some negatives. As evening descended so did many kinds of flies and insects. And on top of that mosquitoes. Thankfully we were carrying our Mortein coils and Liquidator. The staff informed us that the flies are harmless and do not bite. Eco Villa is probably the best in terms of its vantage location, view, behaviour of the staff, and food but they need to do something about the flies.
